The God Who Is Aware + Immanuel Women's Retreat!
Good morning Immanuel. God hears, remembers, sees, and knows.
“And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. God saw the people of Israel—and God knew.” (Exodus 2:24-25)
God is all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-powerful. These are beautiful attributes, but if they were to work against us, they would undo us. Praise God, the heart of the gospel is not simply the mere fact of these attributes but the leveraging of these attributes for the sake of our redemption! What a joy to know that the eternal God, our covenant God, is not deaf, unfaithful, blind, or unmoved. When the people of God cried out to God for rescue, the heart of God was expounded in this way - God heard, remembered, saw, and knew.
God heard, not because the people cried out loud enough, but because his ear is always turned to the cries of his beloved. God remembered, not because he had ever forgotten, but because he gave his Word to Abraham. God is faithful. He will never go back on his promise of redemption. God saw, not because we had ever been hidden from him, but because his eyes go to and fro looking for opportunities to show himself strong on our behalf (2 Chronicles 16:9). All this is to say that God knew! His heart is bound to his beloved, and He is fully invested in us. He’s near to us as we suffer. He’s with us and has opened his heart to be touched by our afflictions. When we take a good long look at Jesus, we see this covenant love fully on display. In Jesus, we see the God who hears, remembers, sees, and knows!
