Coming Up: Fall Kick-Off! π
Good morning, Immanuel. Catch up on the Daily and learn about the new fall events kicking off!
βThe Lord said to Moses, βDepart; go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, βTo your offspring I will give itββ (Exodus 33:1).
A major theme in the Old Testament is the Exodus, where God delivers Israel out of bondage in Egypt and brings them to the land he promised Abraham. Godβs redemptive activity from Egypt to the promised land was a pattern that looked forward to a greater and better redemption through Jesus (Lk. 9:31; 1 Pet. 1:10-11; Heb. 4:8). Israel was brought out from Egypt into a land of promise. In a greater sense, all those who trust in Christ are brought out from our bondage to sin and darkness and are transferred into the kingdom of Christ. In other words, the gospel is not only the good news of what God saved us FROM, but also of what God saved us TO.
We were saved from condemnation into peace with God
We were saved from the vanity of idolatry into the fullness of Jesus
We were savedΒ fromΒ the fear of deathΒ intoΒ the blessed assurance of life in Christ
The gospel is the good news of what Jesus saved us FROM. But itβs also the good news of what He saved us TO!
