Ephesians Encouragement + This Sunday at Immanuel!
Good morning Immanuel. Here is an encouraging reminder from our Ephesians series and updates on Wed. nights!
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Ephesians 5:1).
Last Sunday, we heard the final sermon in our Ephesians series and invited everyone to share their reflections on how the series impacted them. The response below (shared with permission from the writer) was a helpful reminder of how our identity in Christ motivates our behavior.
My biggest take away from Ephesians is the indicative/imperative. I cannot be reminded enough that my obedience must be rooted in my identity as a beloved daughter of the King, otherwise I feel beaten down and like a miserable failure. Living from grace rather than for grace makes all the difference. I don’t have to work hard to get myself together. The only work that God requires of me is to just keep coming to Him—over and over again—asking the Spirit to help me, as I rest in the security that the finished work of Jesus has forever earned me my Father’s complete love and acceptance. I am part of His holy and noble family and it’s a privilege to bear the family resemblance in my character and actions.
