Ever Increasing Peace + Christmas Eve Services Tomorrow!
We serve a king whose reign is unlike any others, defined by perfect peace, and will never end.
“Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end…” (Isaiah 9:7a).
This is not how governments work, at least not as we know them. Over the course of human history some governments have lasted centuries and been captured in history books. Others have been so brief and so obscure as to have been entirely forgotten. But no government has lasted forever. They have all come to an end, and those currently in power have numbered days.
Yet, Isaiah tells us that the kingdom of Jesus will not just last, but eternally increase. Not only that, it will bring peace that will eternally increase. Every other great government has established itself in war and maintained its hold by being the baddest bully on the block. Even the most notable periods of peace, like the Pax Romana, were enforced by military might and merely maintained.
Jesus brings a kind of government, a kind of rule, that never ends and doesn’t merely survive. It increases. The peace that Jesus brings isn’t merely maintained and defended, it is the defining reality. The peace of Jesus isn’t static; it increases. This is true now, in the lives of believers. It is true in Christ’s work through his church. And it will be ultimately, magnificently, perfectly true upon his return. We serve a king whose reign is unlike any others, defined by perfect peace, and will never end. We have every reason for hope.
Christmas Eve Holy Communion
Immanuel warmly invites you to join us this Christmas Eve on Tuesday, December 24th! This year, we will host two services:
4:00 pm: First service (Children’s classes available for ages 3 and under)
5:30 pm: Second service (No children’s classes available)
Whether you come with family, friends, or on your own, this is a moment to slow down amidst the holiday rush and reflect on the wonder and glory of Christ. Let’s celebrate the beauty of God’s grace and His accomplishments for us through the gift of His Son. Come as you are, bring your need, and let’s worship the One who came to rescue and redeem us. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given...” (Isaiah 9:6)
We look forward to welcoming you!
