Faithful & Sovereign
Good morning, Immanuel. We can rest because Jesus is our sovereign king who rules in love.
“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord’” (Luke 2:10-11).
The good news of Jesus Christ is the only answer for a soul with no answers or solutions. We see it in these verses. So let's look at verse 11 and soak in the good news of great joy, the true remedy for our soul-level problem. Jesus was born in the city of David, so he was the fulfillment of the Old Testament promises. He is the king who establishes the line of David forever. He is the shoot from the stump of Jesse, as Isaiah tells us, the child born unto us, on whom the government will rest, and to whom nations will bow down. So this means that we can rest in his rule and authority over all things. He is sovereign over our personal circumstances. He rules over nations. He governs the future so our anxiety, stress, frustration, anger, and circumstances in the world around us can be put in his faithful, sovereign hands.
