“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?’” (Exodus 3:11).
Moses, like many of us, struggled with feelings of inadequacy and insecurity when God called him to lead his people out of Egypt. In Exodus 3-4, we see a series of excuses Moses offered and God’s steadfast responses that pointed Moses back to who He is, not who Moses thought himself to be. We often do the same, don't we? We question our abilities, ask for more certainty, and sometimes, like Moses, flat out refuse to step into what God has for us. Yet God didn’t accept Moses’ excuses—because his strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Time and again, God patiently turns Moses' excuses into opportunities for divine power and provision to be displayed. God changes the subject from what we lack to who he is!
What excuse do we have today? What reason might we hold on to, thinking it’s too great for God to overcome? His answer is always the same: "I will be with you." He calls us to look at who he is, not who we are. Let’s take comfort in that and trust his ability more than our excuses. Consider the cross - God put his greatest power on display in Jesus’ weakest moment!
We don’t have to hide behind excuses. Let’s step forward with confidence, knowing Christ is with us, and his strength is made perfect in our weaknesses!
Thank you Tony, thank you Lord. 🙏🏼
