God Will Not Waste Our Lives
Good morning, Immanuel. In Christ, not a single moment of our lives will be wasted.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
I’m not sure where it came from, but it’s been there for several years. Deep down in my soul, there is this lingering fear that I’m going to waste my life. That I’ll get to the end of my run and be filled with regrets for a life that was not well spent.
What if I miss my calling?
What if I fail at my calling?
What if I don’t ever have kids or get married?
What if I sell out and buy into the American Dream and pursue the lifestyle of the rich and famous?
All of these questions have one thing in common. They have me at the center. Immanuel, I have good news for you. God will not waste your life.
The logic of Ephesians 2:10 begins before the foundation of the world:
You have been chosen to be a dearly loved child before the world existed.
You have been adopted into God’s family through the loving sacrifice of Jesus.
You have been redeemed and forgiven.
You have been sealed with the Holy Spirit and made one with Christ.
You were dead, but made alive by the sheer grace of God.
My dear friends, considering all that God has done, do you think He would possibly waste your life? Of course not!
This means that we can put our hands to the plow and work hard with what is right in front of us, trusting that 10,000 years from now, we will be more sure than ever that not a single moment of our lives has been wasted! None of our work in the Lord is in vain.
God be praised!
