God's Mindfulness
Good morning, Immanuel. As we consider the wonder of creation today, consider even more the wonder of God’s love for us!
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” (Psalm 8:3-4)
The next time you’re outside, take a good, long look at the beauty of God’s creation all around you. The universe is chock-full of amazing wonders. The more we learn about the universe, the more baffled we become. In 2014, NASA published a photo of the universe compiled by the Hubble Telescope over a period of 9 years, offering a staggering view of 10,000 galaxies:
We could hardly imagine the vastness of one galaxy, let alone 10,000! David only knew a fraction of what we know of the universe today, but he had eyes to see the Lord of love through it all. His contemplation of the greatness, wisdom, and glory of God in creation filled him with awe: that this infinitely wise God had contemplated humanity! Not only had God contemplated us, but He did so with the purpose of caring for us- who is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? The God who brought firey balls of gas into existence and sustains them by the word of His power delights to turn His life-giving attention to us. 10,000 songs could never fully capture the sheer wonder of being loved by the God who chose to wield His power for the good of mere man.
Dear Immanuel, as you consider the wonder of creation today, consider even more the wonder of God’s love for us in Jesus. We can entrust our whole selves to His loving care.
