His Prayers Won't Fail + Q&A Tonight
Good morning Immanuel. Be encouraged by our friends at Hampton Roads Fellowship in Newport News, Virginia. The prayers of Jesus won't fail, and we can bank on that!
“…but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail” (Luke 22:32).
Jesus’ words and interactions with His disciples, so wonderfully captured in the gospel accounts, offer us precious reminders of how He cares for us who follow Him today. Take this intimate moment between Jesus and Peter, for example. Shortly before Peter would deny Jesus and spiral to his lowest point, our Lord provides him with two immensely encouraging affirmations: (1) I have prayed for you, and (2) that your faith may not fail.
These words not only give insight into the heart of Christ for Peter but also for us today. We can take comfort in that his heart for Peter is the same heart for weak and weary sinners who receive him by faith today. Jesus prays for you. He chose you before the foundations of the world were laid (Eph. 1:4). He prayed for you in the garden on the night before going to the cross to die for you (John 17:20). And He rose and ascended to the Father’s right hand, forever alive to make intercession for you (Heb. 7:25).
Rejoice today that your savior is praying over you at this very moment. His prayers for you won’t fail. Indeed, they can’t fail, because He is faithful to complete what He began in you!
