One Body In Christ
Good morning, Immanuel. The gospel unites all kinds of people, so let's rejoice in Christ together!
“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning” (Acts 11:15).
The New Testament church came to life through the gospel's explosive power and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. This event, recorded in Acts chapter 2, was a non-ignorable sign of the power and presence of the risen Christ with His people. But just as the gospel came with saving power to the Jews in Acts 2, it also came with saving power to the Gentiles in Acts 10! As Peter was obedient to share the gospel with people who didn’t share his ethnic and cultural background, God gave an irrefutable demonstration of His pride-leveling, enemy-reconciling redemptive work— the Holy Spirit fell on the Gentiles, just as He had done on the Jews!
There is only one body of Christ because Christ is not divided. There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. There is no such thing as first or second-class citizens in Christ, only those who have been brought near by the blood of Christ. By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, you have become a full participant in every spiritual blessing, no matter your country of origin, ethnic background, gender, or socioeconomic status! Beloved, you are united to Christ, and we share in the richness of redemption as co-heirs with Christ. Let’s take a moment today to reflect on this reality and rejoice in Christ together.
