Suffering For the Name (+Midweek)
Good morning, Immanuel. What a joy it is to live for something worth suffering for!
“And when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name” (Acts 5:40-41).
Persecution arising from affiliation with Jesus is an honor only this fleeting life affords. And what a joy it is to live for something worth suffering for, a cause more precious than health or property! Soon we will be safe in glory, cheering on future generations. In that day, every blood stain on the jersey of our faith—especially the ones on the back—will be an eternal badge of honor, a proof of participation with the King of Glory!
Our heavenly Father, inspire us today with a true sense of our blood-bought union with Christ and make us bold to live joyfully for His glory. In the holy name of Jesus, we pray, amen.
