Taste and See
Come to him with your weariness. Come to him with your fears. Come to him with your need.
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8)
In the late 1800s, Coca-Cola had a simple problem: people knew the name, but they did not know the taste. So they gave out free samples. They wanted people to move beyond the idea of Coke and actually taste and see for themselves.
Psalm 34 gives us a far better invitation. David is not speaking as a man untouched by trouble. He is speaking as someone who has cried out to the Lord and been delivered. He has tasted the goodness of God’s rescuing grace.
That is the invitation Jesus extends to us in the gospel. He invites us beyond a mere theoretical acceptance of God into a living, soul-satisfying experience of his grace and goodness. He wants us to taste and see that he is good! So, we bring our fears, troubles, sins, and sorrows to the Lord, and by faith we taste the mercy of Christ again as our refuge and deliverer.
So come to him with your weariness. Come to him with your fears. Come to him with your need. Christ is the refuge of sinners, the deliverer of the distressed, and the goodness of God for all who take shelter in him. “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!”

Thank you, Tony. This is good and timely.
Bless you,

Whenever I see "Taste and See" I think how can we not share Jesus with others?
When we come across a new restaurant and taste some good food, we tell those at the table "you have to try this!" or we share with our friends to be sure to check it out.
I tend to remind my christian friends to share Jesus because that's the BEST recommendation we can give anyone - one they surrender their lives they will surely "see"
Thank you for this Tony
