“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
Do you remember when you first saw His glory? Can you think back on when you first really beheld King Jesus, the friend of sinners, the deliverer of the undeserving, the welcomer of the weary, in all his splendor and majesty? The first chapter of John is an earthquake of glory with the eternal Christ at its epicenter. He is light. In Him is life. The only Son became flesh and dwelt among us. He overflows with grace and truth. Many of us first encountered the real Jesus in the first chapter of John’s gospel.
That is why I am so excited about the 21-Day Challenge and also why I am so eager to get the people of Immanuel praying for college students in Nashville over the next 21 days. Starting today, thousands of college students in Nashville are reading through the gospel of John, one chapter a day for the next 21 days. 35+ churches, campus ministries, and even universities are participating, and 9000+ booklets of the gospel of John are in the hands of students across the city at this very moment. Here are a few ways to pray:
Pray for Christian college students in Nashville that they would use this opportunity to “bear witness about the light” (John 1:7) and read John’s gospel with a friend.
Pray for the cynic, the skeptic, and the prodigal that they would, by the power of the Holy Spirit, see Him in His Word and come to Him in faith.
Pray for spiritual renewal at Nashville’s major universities, Belmont, Fisk, Lipscomb, Trevecca, TSU, and Vanderbilt. Students at all six schools will be reading along.
You are welcome to read along with us, one chapter a day starting this morning. And you are invited to follow along on Instagram at @nash21daychallenge. Thank you, praying saints! Behold and enjoy Jesus today.
Praying, thank you Vince!
