The Beauty Of The Lord
Good morning Immanuel. Let us gaze upon the beauty of Jesus in the gospel!
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple” (Psalm 27:4).
Sometimes I come across a photo that is so breathtaking that I have to share it with others. I can’t help but be drawn to beauty and wonder. And that makes sense. Humanity is wired for awe. We scale towering mountain ranges and plunge into the ocean's depths, all in search of breathtaking beauty. All this splendor is but a testament to the even greater beauty of the Lord.
David had one desire: to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord Himself. All that is lovely, all that is commendable, all that is praiseworthy, and all that is good is perfectly found in the Lord. There is a sight of His beauty that fills our hearts with joy. There is a sense of His goodness that brings contentment. There is a beholding of His glory that fortifies our hope. So by faith, let us gaze upon the beauty of Jesus in the gospel and live.
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure” (1 John 3:1-3).
Ah. Beautiful! This is my favorite Daily Pulse so far. Thank you, Tony!
"Humanity is wired for awe." I love this!
"So by faith, let us gaze upon the beauty of Jesus in the gospel and live." Asking the Lord to stir our hearts again to share the beauty of Jesus in the gospel, if we're so quick to share what we find awesome in this world how can we not share how AWESOME the Lord is..."
