The Daily + Friday Morning Tenth Gen. Prayer!
Good morning, Immanuel. We can let the full weight of our hopes down onto the Savior’s shoulders.
“I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore” (Psalm 131:2-3).
King David was a high achiever for God. He fought great battles, overcame great odds, and led Israel into an unprecedented era of expansion and prosperity. The obstacles before him were goliath, literally and figuratively. The pressures of life and leadership were intense. He suffered and sinned like other men—sometimes worse than other men. And yet how many men have so channeled the power of God? How so?
David knew that the secret of power with God is to let God be God. God our Savior does not require our anxiety to accomplish great things through us and for us. Our anxious toil tends only to clog the pipeline of strengthening grace.
At the invitation of God himself, we can let the full weight of our hopes down onto the Savior’s shoulders and so quiet our souls in every season of life.
The One who can be trusted to pay the full debt of our sins at the cross, can surely be trusted with the full weight of our earthly hopes now that He has ascended to His heavenly throne.
Hear this, my soul, and be calmed. Your King and Savior, the very One who loved you to death, is ruling over every molecule in the Universe. Let Him be God to you.
