The Daily + New Music + Wednesday Updates
Good morning Immanuel. You are too dear to God for your suffering to be wasted!
“Then the Lord said, ‘I have surely seen the affliction of my people . . . I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them’” (Exodus 3:7-8).
We are often allowed to suffer. And we don’t always know why. But even if we did know why, that knowledge could not comfort us like the knowledge that God has given us in His word. Namely, He sees our suffering and opens Himself up to feel the sting of our afflictions as His own. Nothing so draws out the Lord’s love into action as our suffering. The cross of Christ is the measure of His love for us, the place where He came down to suffer in our place and deliver us from the curse of sin and death. And if the suffering of our Lord is bringing many sons to glory, we can be sure our suffering is preparing us for glory too. You are too dear to God for your suffering to be wasted. Hang on to His love for you today, Immanuel. Let every crack of despair be filled with resurrection hope!
