The Daily + This Sunday at Immanuel
Good morning, Immanuel. Jesus is worthy to be crowned with many crowns!
“God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it” (Acts 2:24).
The whole of humanity came under the curse of death when Adam fell into sin. But Jesus bore our sin and judgment at the cross and rose in victory. The decisive win over death happened when our Lord arose from the grave. The fullness of that victory is being realized in us who are united to Him by faith. As Paul says, “When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:54-57). Because of His resurrection, we have life, power, hope, and a song to sing:
Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o'er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
his glories now we sing
who died and rose on high,
who died eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.

Hallelujah, what a Savior!
