“Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly” (Mark 8:25).
The healing of the blind man is more than a miracle—it’s a picture of the eye-opening power of the gospel. The man’s partial sight after Jesus’s first touch mirrors our own need for spiritual sight. Like him, we often see dimly, but by the grace of God, our understanding grows clearer as we continue with Jesus.
When Jesus asked the man, “Do you see anything?” the man replied, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking” (v. 24). It took a second touch for his vision to fully clear. In the same way, our view of Christ deepens as we experience his grace, comprehend the gospel, and follow him. Seeing Jesus isn’t a one-time event; it’s a lifelong process. Peter’s confession—“You are the Christ” (v. 29)—shows he was beginning to see Jesus for who He truly is. Yet when Jesus spoke of suffering and death, Peter rebuked Him, revealing his incomplete understanding. Like Peter, we often view Jesus through the lens of our expectations rather than the reality of who he truly is. But Jesus is patient. He continues to touch and open the eyes of our hearts, helping us see his glory more clearly. As we behold him, we are transformed “from one degree of glory to another” (2 Corinthians 3:18).
What do you want to see more clearly about Jesus today? Ask him to open your eyes, to deepen your understanding, and to reveal more of His beauty and glory. He is faithful to answer.
"Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law" (Psalm 119:18).

ON THE HORIZON - JANUARY 19TH BUILDING DEDICATION
Join us on Sunday, January 19th, as we celebrate the dedication of 4301 Charlotte Avenue with a special day of worship and fellowship. The day will begin at 9:00 AM with a coffee and pastry hour, followed by a single worship service at 10:00 AM. Seating will be available in both the main worship center and Sadler Chapel. After the service, everyone is invited to pick up a lunch bag and find a spot on campus to enjoy a meal with others as we celebrate what the Lord is doing. You’ll also have the opportunity to tour the building, prayerfully walk the grounds, and dream about how God will use this space for His glory. This is a time to reflect, connect, and celebrate as a church family. We can’t wait to see you there!
Thanks Tony! Great article.
