The Monday Pulse + (Rebecca McLaughlin on 9/18!)
Good morning Immanuel! We don’t always have the knowledge we want, but we are always given the strength we need.
“It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:7-8).
“I don’t know” is one of the phrases we need the most and like to use the least. None of us likes admitting ignorance. But it is healthy to acknowledge that what we know is limited and incomplete.
Not only is it healthy to acknowledge this fact, but I think it is also spiritually necessary. These words of Jesus remind us that there are things we’re not meant to know. There is a glory to being human, but some things are still above our pay grade. That can be frustrating, embarrassing even. We have questions we’d love answers to.
But while we don’t always have the knowledge we want, we are always given the strength we need. We don't know everything. Instead, we're promised power. The Holy Spirit will come – not just to the world in general, but to Jesus’ disciples individually. The Spirit will give us what we need to be the Lord’s servants.
We live in challenging times. There are so many complex questions and situations to navigate. But it doesn't ultimately come down to how much I know, but how much the Lord has given.
As we head into this day, we can be grateful for—and reliant upon—the strength that comes down from above.
Save the date…
