We Love Him...But He Loves Us More!
Good morning Immanuel. The friendship we have with Jesus is gloriously lopsided.
“Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3).
What really frees you up to change? If our deepest motivation for change is the fear of judgment (do this or else), it won’t last, and it won’t be worship. Even if our deepest motivation for change is our love and devotion for Jesus, not even that will be deep enough. Our love comes and goes. But if our deepest motivation for change is the immovable, unchanging love that God has for us, then that is a well that never runs dry! That is a bottomless ocean. Do we love Jesus? Yes! But Jesus loves us more. In fact, His love is the reason we love him at all!
The friendship we have with Jesus is gloriously lopsided. His love for us will always outpace our love for Him. In Christ, it’s impossible for God to love us more than He already does. We will never be more loved because of our obedience, or never less loved because of our failings. His love fuels every step of the Christian life.
Praise God! Thank you Tony 🙏🏼
Your sermon Sunday was so helpful. I have been basking in His lopsided love since you helped me embrace it more deeply. Thank you!
