White As Snow + This Sunday!
Your sins have not just been covered over with a veneer of goodness; they have been erased!
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).
Christian, do you believe and accept this promise? Do you believe that the sacrifice of Jesus paid for the debt of your sins to the last cent? Do you believe that his blood washed away the guilt of your sins? And not just some of them, but all of them–even those sins that haunt you in the quiet moments, the ones that grind you down with regret and shame.
If you believe in Jesus–that is, if your hope is in him alone–you are white as snow, unblemished in the eyes of God. Your sins have not just been covered over with a veneer of goodness; they have been erased by the purifying, cleansing, restoring blood of Jesus shed for you.
What does this mean for you? It means that you can confidently “draw near to the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16). It means you need not hold back from God, his word, or worship of him. It means you are free from the burden of sin and can walk in the light. And, lest you (like me) are tempted to return to wallowing in guilt, it means that we have all the assurance we need to shout down the voice of accusation in our heads. Jesus paid it all.
The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT: PARK AVENUE ELEMENTARY
One way Immanuel makes the real Jesus non-ignorable in our city is through our partnership with Park Avenue Elementary School, which serves many of Nashville’s underserved students. Last week, volunteers helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week with a Treat Trolley and cookies from Doug and Dolly’s. The staff was so thankful and said Immanuel plays a big role in making them feel appreciated.
Next up: Field Day on Friday, May 16 from 8:00 am–3:15 pm. Volunteers are needed to help run stations and serve lunch. Come for an hour or stay all day—every bit helps! Interested? Email Madison Knowe at madison.knowe@gmail.com. Let’s keep showing up with the love of Christ.
